So, you want to make a new resolution this year. Life with Jesus is the best decision we can make, and it’s never too late. Below are some practical steps you can take to grow in your relationship with Jesus this new year.

DAILY: PRAY

Prayer is how we talk to God. We can have conversations with him anywhere and anytime. The heart of prayer is fellowship and communion with God. Take time to draw near to God throughout your day and share your feelings with him, listen, give thanks, seek guidance, ask questions, make requests, and contend for those around you. Here are three resources you can utilize as you grow in your prayer time.

Prayer Map

Learn how to pray for others as you lift your neighbors and the nations in prayer. Download your free prayer map here.

DEVOTIONAL

There are several prayer-focused books and devotionals you can utilize to guide you through your daily fellowship with God. One we recommend is, Talking With God: A Practical Plan for Personal Prayer by Dick Eastman. You can purchase the e-book here.

Another book you can read for free here is Growing in Prayer by Mike Bickle.

JOURNAL

Journaling is a great way to remember our time of communion with God. When we journal during prayer, we are reminded of the things God said and can reflect on how we’ve grown over the years.

ACT

In Matthew 22:36-40, Jesus tells us that the two greatest commandments are loving God and our neighbor. That’s why it’s important we are intentional every day about making a difference in someone’s life. This can be as simple as giving someone a compliment or a kind gesture.

weekly: Church

One of the best ways to grow in our faith is fellowship with other believers. Attending church regularly is a great way for us to hear biblical teaching and to get involved in serving others. You can also get plugged into a bible study or discipleship group where you can grow in a deeper relationship with other Christians as you grow together in your walk with Jesus.

yearly: Bíblia

One significant step to take this new year is to read the Bible. Even if you don’t read the entire book in one year, a great place to start in your faith journey is learning about the story that God has written over the years. You can read from a physical Bible or several Bible apps like YouVersion, where you can set goals and reminders for the year.
